Ms. Kelly Chobotiuk founder and president of Herbs for Hurts, has extensive experience in child development, herbology and natural healing. In 1997, she realized a need for natural, gentle health products for children, and created her first product 'Boo Boo Bear™'  ' I first started in a farmers market selling herbs from my garden. This grew to talking about the benefits with parents about using herbs and other natural healing methods. I knew then that there was a great need for products that are simple and safe to use.' Then Boo Boo Bear™ was born.
Ms. Chobotiuk states that the first Boo Boo bear did not look as it does now. Her mother, Mary-Lou, created the design you see today. Since then a number of products have been introduced, Boo Boo Bunny™, Angel for Aches™, Snakes for Aches™, Lavender Love Pillows™, Massage Butters, and Children's Room Sprays. Ms. Chobotiuk plans to create more products that are healing for our young ones. Sharing information on the usage of herbs & pure essential oils are one of the company's mandates. Educational literature is also provided about the herbs used in their products.
Ms. Chobotiuk has implemented a work creation project in Calgary, hiring single moms to work out of their homes cutting, sewing, and filling the Boo Boo Bear™. She believes that women should have the opportunity to work in a flexible, supportive work environment while they raise their families without placing their children in outside care. Future plans are a manufacturing facility with childcare on site. |
